Sweet Interlude

When the novelty has worn off
And our reprieve from reality ends
I hope we will still be friends

When our story has run its course
Naturally
I hope we can embrace
Amicably

With love & gratitude
For the sweet interlude we shared
And with no regrets for what we dared

I will look back
With fond recollection
Of the connection we discovered
Unexpectedly
And I'll be grateful
For the gift of inspiration
You gave me

I'll have the words, the poems, the rhymes
To remind me of the precious times
We spent so blissfully

I'll have the words, the poems, the songs
To remind me
Of our special bond
