The Unrequited Love for a Girl as Felt by a Teenage Boy

The Unrequited Love for a Girl as Felt by a Teenage Boy

Dear girl, I never meant to hurt you
I think of you to this day.
You were sweet sixteen
And I was seventeen.

I told you that I loved you
I should have guessed you didn’t love me-
You were such a lovely friend
And on Facebook still will be.

I'd still love to hold you in my arms
And kiss your pretty face
I fully understand though that
This never can take place

If only I could have made you happy
we could have been together, always,
enjoyed each others' company
till the end of days.

We may never meet again
But in my heart you’ll always be
You really did mean
So very much to me.

Your smile and your friendliness,
Your daily greetings of “Hello”
You will remain about the best
Friend I’ve ever known.
