Taking comfort in Newton

Taking comfort in Newton

This week we lost Stephen Hawking,
a mind that sparked and flamed.
Synaptic pyrotechnics
that had the universe explained.

He was famously an athiest
but he said himself;
Chronicling the history of the universe,
does not preclude a god.

So I take comfort in Newton
when I think of his glorious mind

Newton's first law;

Energy cannot be created or destroyed,

It can only change its form.

Thank you Cherie, a conversation between Newton, Einstein and Hawking. Wouldn't that make a wonderful play?

Thank you Tony.
I have been working on two novels over the past couple of years. One is a crime novel set in my lovely terrorist filled home town, that's where I visit for fun. The other may well never be finished. That one is about the duality of me. As someone who grew up in a household filled with logic I disagree with all established religion. As a poet I must believe in the soul. As a human living my very strange life I fundamentally do believe in the soul.
I think I might be visiting your blog.

Thank you so much Dean. I felt his passing almost like the death of a favourite songwriter so it is an honour to be nominated for this one
Thanks again, Nigel
