Tannhauser in the Venusberg

Tannhauser in the Venusberg

When Memory’s Daughters sing unto the crowds
Evoking worlds of wonderment and song
They shape a great Valhalla in the clouds
Which some can see (some not) amidst the throng.
The artisan steps forth with hammer bright
And thinks to craft an edifice. Imbues
the work with thought and artifice and might
She does the things that others cannot do.
Yet genius raises rarer structures still
And therefore must encompass more than thought
It courts a jealous goddess in the Hill
And so brings forth a Living Art unwrought.
It sees a world prismatic ever clear
And hears a music others never hear.

Stunning, I love it.

And therefore must encompass more than thought
