Teddy

Teddy

I once had a toy
A cherished bear I called
Teddy
He’d sit under my arm
Whilst lying in bed

He’d sleep by my side
Every night restful and
Steady
Sleep well and be happy
Is what Teddy said

I have him today
Boxed with soft toys
Out of reach
Out of sight – (out of mind)
Day after day

But I know he is
There – like sand on
The beach
Hold fast and stay strong
Is what Teddy would say

In a moment like this –
With resilience
The key
Stoic and steadfast –
Traits Teddy possesses

I need you more now
Than ever – I’d say to
My bear
In a moment like this –
In a time for confessions
