Teeth against the heart

Teeth against the heart

Me breathing you in and you filling me up
Fat, skin, and bones melting to fit
Your eyes in my stomach and my fingers in your gut
And your kisses stuck to the back of my skull

Lungs far more convenient when shrivelled up
To make space for yours, they stretch and slit
Inflating with oxygen from your breath only
So they won’t feel lonely

But I’m so lonely
Lonely lonely lonely
Even when the tears are licked off my eyes
They come back slowly

Like I’m ruining myself as a hobby
And your tongue’s treat
Mutilating myself into something holy
Rinse and repeat

“There’s a little tearing through flesh to get to the heart”

And blood mixed in with that red, red love
And writhing borne in that sweet, sweet embrace
Replacing that which I am made out of
Two smiles becoming one face
One mouth to shut
Fingers never to part
Until the end of days, stuck
in an affectionate assault

Your teeth against my heart
