Poem -

Tense Past?

Someone in the group "Poetry Lovers" asked for ppl to try and extend this poem... " I loved you but...."...

I loved you but were we in love?
I wonder what could be the difference?
Were we entities with destinys of
Growing fonder from a distance?

I was part of you but when we parted
Your codependance still remained
Demanded we continue what we'd started
Keeping you ever comfily sustained

I needed you but what we're needing
Won't be found in one another
Neither's all that good at leading
A fact we were very quick to discover

I missed you but what we're not missing
That cliche "one that got away"
Other wise we'd just continued risking
Getting caught in matter that's turned grey
