That old red phone box ?

That old red kiosk used to stand red and proud when it would ring a-ting-a-ling in our street very loud..and if nobody was inside it well we were only small, so we would take great delight in answering that call..

“Knock knock” we would say holding the receiver to our ears, when the rest of us giggled with such nervous fears.. now hopefully the person on the line would reply “Who is that?” when us little monkeys would laugh” It’s An-nette Curtain, do you want a photograph?” Teehee we had many more of these, as we would listen to the stranger in a state of displease.. Eeh I can remember those public phone boxes just like yesterday and on the cold, chilly nights we would cram into one and play..

Scanning through the ‘Yellow pages’ and searching for a funny name, haha I can well reminisce this was a humerous game.. And God help it if we found a silly surname on a page, coz we would ring them up with a ten bob bit and get them in a right rage.. Teehee those were the days with the operator on the line and a “Beep, Beep, Beep” when your coin ran out of time..I spent many a winter’s night huddled together in a red box when we would dial up 1..2..3.. and listen to the “Speaking clocks...
