The Artist Who Got The Money Now!

The Artist Who Got The Money Now!

They all waited too long to receive their value,
we know them from books and lists of Who's Who:
Sothebys dished out a cool fifty million for my unmade bed,
a pile of bricks may achieve more it has been said.

My Arab boss said: 'You stay there until you've got my painting,'
if I didn't, there'd be a lot of raving and ranting;
perhaps we should be more choosy where work is hung to rest,
instead of some middle eastern basement with little interest.

Van Gogh wanted to know how much his 'sunflowers' sold for,
I said about thirty million - he said: 'I needed the money more
then, instead of struggling in a small room, my dear,
look what happened - I went mad and cut off my bloody ear!'

So perhaps there should be a reserve for my bunch of bananas,
or my night time sleeper exposed, wearing no pyjamas.

Hi Tony,
Thanks so much -
I think the song you're thinking of
is 'Vincent,' starry starry night
by Don Mclean.
Love,
Terry.
