The Best Dressed Man

The Best Dressed Man

A dedicated follower of fashion - oh yes he was;
my friend was general manager of Pierre Cardin,
he insisted that I should wear a pesky gilet,
but I looked like someone out of The Great Gatsby.

Brown shirt, white tie and fancy sports jacket,
now I was ready, I knew that I could hack it,
the best was yet to come with brown buckle shoes,
wear the gilet sometime - what had I got to lose.

Did Fitzgerald have a white tie in his mind,
or was he more concerned with a sexy behind;
I walked out on the stage ready to rumble,
but was beaten by a prick in a striped ensemble.

Reminiscing afterwards, sour grapes, what victory lacks,
as she brushed her hand over my black & white houndstooth slacks.

Being Me

Interesting write! The world of "fashion" is a strange one...I prefer classic and comfortable.

I cannot finish your crossword. I have tried. I got all the clues in the comments and still had problems finishing it.  I have always been useless at crosswords though. We are going to need the answers x
