THE COAL MINER

Off to the pits to shovel some coal
When the day is over its off to the watering hole
Have you ever worked underground before ?
It's not very easy that's for sure

The days are long and dangerous down the pit
You have to be brave,strong,dependable and fit
Shovelling coal to provide the nation's heat
Trying to stay alive and to make ends meet

My day is over now I've finished my shift
A pint of beer at that watering hole to give me a lift
If you want my advice work in an office my son
Working down the pits is hardly fun
