Poem -

The Concealed Kin.

The Concealed Kin.

A picture paints a thousand words,
And more when hung with care,
A simple task seems innocent,
But there should be one more there.

Am I not pleasing to your eye?
Does my face reflect disgrace?
Am I not fit to be on your wall?
Does your pride have no more space?

A meal that is fit for a king,
All waiting for the sitting,
As they all approach the bench,
There’s one more place matt missing.

I thought you called before we came?
To order a table for five?
Or did you want to embarrass me?
Just after I’d arrived?

What was it that I did to you?
To want to erase me from your life?
I’ve only ever supported you,
Through good times, bad and strife.

I’ll take your hidden blows of deceit,
And I will keep my head up high,
But you know how much your hurting me,
Because you know my heart can’t lie.

Sounds like something my ex-wife might pull on me, Lucy.
See, the thing is, I wasn't the one who had an affair and was unfaithful, she was.
She even instigated the affair and pursued the guy.
Yet she gets extremely jealous whenever I bring a date to family functions.
Go figure.
I say what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and vice versa.
I used to let her trying to embarrass me in front of family and friends bother me.
But now, I don't give a sh!t.
In the immortal words of Phil Collins:

Well you can tell everyone I'm a darn disgrace
drag my name all over the place
I don't care anymore.
I don't care no more...

~Great poem!
