The Day I Met The Bard

The Day I Met The Bard

'Thou dost pen a mean line,' Will said to me one day,
I said that I try my best to get everything in the play;
but there was much ado about nothing when spring was here,
remember open-mindedness, even thee and me are a little queer.

I carried a sword like the good old days to fend off foes,
like the two gentlemen of Verona who tried to tread on my toes;
'How is the Globe theatre?' He enquired, 'It's there,' I said,
'To show your plays and portray how you were easily led'.

'What do you mean? I wrote it all from within my soul,
and Macbeth died for me, beheaded was his final role,'
I wished that I had his drama to just sweep all away,
you don't know what's in my mind on any given day.

He said: 'I believe you have a 'Harry' now, I had' Henry,'
you better be careful and lead him into the coronation gently.'
