The Dentist

lay awake at night time
My tooth is hurting so
I should really ring the dentist
But I never like to go
I go to eat some breakfast
My tooth is hurting bad
The pain is shooting up my head
It's the worst pain that I've had..
I walk into the dentist
The sound of drills so loud
I book in at reception
And sit down with the crowd
My mind it starts to wander
What will he do today
Should I stay and suffer
Or should I run away
They shout my name out loudly
My heart it skips a beat
Oh do I really have to
Sit in the dentists seat
He asks me how I'm feeling
In pain I tell him so
Sit right down & open wide
But I feel like shouting no
My body starts to tremble
As he shines the light on me
I close my eyes so tightly
To make sure I can't see
I can see the trouble
Why you're in so much pain
You have yourself an abscess
Of which we'll have to drain
So in he puts the needle
To make my mouth go numb
I know what I would rather have
A great big glass of rum
Once numb he starts to drill it
And then he starts to fill
I swill and spit out water
And now my pain is nil
I'm glad I went to see him
As I'm in no more pain
But if I get a toothache
I would quickly go again

Poetry is truth, and your poem is truth personified. Nice job! But I most identify with your line "I know what I would rather have A great big glass of rum." Welcome.
Thank you very much. Me too
A well worked rhyme.
