The Devil And I

I am day star, son of the dawn
And yet you perceive my reign from heaven
As the beast who becomes
But who was never before the fall
I am the bearer of light, the morning star
The planet Venus and a man named Jesus
And the 'ironically' cleped, prince of the dark
I am the fable of the vulgate
And you, the erring heir of Jerome
Who will cast me as anyone, but son of Shahar
So before you propel your judgement, behold
That Lucifer is in the detail
Where ponderance follows the word
And I in turn, your presumption
Although never was I a king
And to you, I will always be
What only ignorance can postulate to know
Still I have fallen and been cut to the ground
When I relinquished to the word
And the world without reason
Crawling into its cage
Where those who wish to be understood
Weaken on their knees
And bleed without a sound
