The Dissonant Lull Of Slumber

The Dissonant Lull Of Slumber

Subconsciously I stayed
At the burgeoning bend of introspection
Until a dream-like intensity, soon arose
Awakening my sense of destiny
Uplifting my spirit
From the wreckage of repose
And I dare not sleep through my restraint
In solitude, I seek no other but remain
At the depths of my reflection
The ghost anticipating you

Still seven years elapsed
In which the night air crept to invite
An almost existential fear
And when I ventured out
I fell regrettably to find
A fathomless vacuity, much steeper
In contrast to the one
That lured me away from here

And upon my return, I discovered
I no longer was alive
But a ghost from an otherworld
Who wandered, until I was left to dwell alone
In the haunted ruins of an afterlife
But just as hope falls into despair
Resurgence awaits by word of a seer
And I already had begun to ascend
On the eve of that August morn

I dreamt of a room, replete with light
On the bed I rose as you lay there
And my soul expressed
What only love transcends
Through the opening of the inner eye
I was enlightened to the full extent
For you are my breath of life
Without you I'm hollow
And as sombre as death
But who beseeches still
Your reflection lost in time
