The Doll that Once Moved

The Doll that Once Moved

The doll that once moved
couldn't lift up her hand
her porcelain fingers were frozen
her crystal pink nails were so stiff they would crack.

Through her open sapphire eyes, she could see the world
but much as she wanted to reach it, she'd not.
Her red satin dress was crooked, and she couldn't make it straight
just like a rock in the ocean, she was to remain.

Her heart was on fire, her will would prevail
through her lifeless feet she'd feel tremendous pain
call it challenge, call it phase
but the truth of the matter was that it was not to be that way.

Days would come and days would go
and she'd move again, but now
she was just a stiffened doll
with eyes open, fear and all.
