The Evergreen

These fretful eyes invoke
The stone which can not bleed
And the ever still tree of life
Where beyond the flesh and bone
I impetrate your spirit within to rise
Although you may already dance around the sun
I wish the wind would cut apart your branches
And strip away your leaves
To elucidate your secluded love
And give you back to me
And you need not possess the eye of animism
To discern when not the wind will blow
That nothing is truly stagnant
But rooted deep with heart and soul
And for all we can't hear or even care to see
There is one who falls
Where self-interest and neglect converge
As common ground divaricatesΒ
To ebb and sink below
