The Fair

The Fair

We wanted to dance in the woods that day
We wanted to dance in the woods
and run, gambol and play

But the dance came to me
in the way of the Fair
so we danced in the sun
and we danced in the air

Up, up it went -
in the heat of the day
and as afternoon came
more of my friends I heard say;

I want to dance too
in the sun and the air
I want to dance too
and do away with all care

Carefree, we danced,
in the sun and the moon
as the Fair waved goodbye and said;
I'll see you all soon

We danced and we pranced
and we chanced all of our luck
as our faces turned into a smile
and our happiness stuck

We'd never go home
without happiness in the room
for we knew that the Fair
would come again soon

And when the Fair came
we would dance in the sky
and spend all our days
oh so happy - on high.
