The Five Day Furlough

It is Friday afternoon now, three-thirty on the nose;
I’m waiting in the parking lot, for Linda’s workplace soon to close!
Then she’ll be off until next Wednesday, five days together we will share;
I can’t wait to get this party started, we are going on a tear!

Tonight we’ll take it easy, she’ll recuperate from her tough day;
Tomorrow a full slate, shopping, wine tasting, two football games on the way!
Sunday we’ll buy our groceries, and watch the NFL’s Red Zone;
Then it’s off to a family dinner, at our son’s and daughter-in-law’s home!

Monday morning, we both will work out, then rest up for New Year’s Eve;
We’re going to dinner, a party with a DJ, but by nine p.m., we’ll leave!
We’ll come home and watch the countdown, on our nice wide screen TV;
We will welcome in the New Year, with a kiss for her and me!
