The impact

The impact

The impact, you ask?
Of the lonesome walk?
Of not being able to express yourself?
Of being unable to talk?

The impact is hard-hitting
The impact is abrupt
The impact will eventually
Cause you to erupt

The impact, you ask?
Of bottling it up?
Of being silenced by services?
Of a half empty cup?

The impact is long-lasting
The impact is grey
The impact will attack
And will lead you astray

The impact, you ask?
Of suffering alone?
Of depression taking over?
Of an unanswered phone?

The impact is a volcano
The impact is pain
The impact is an explosion
Again and again

The impact, you ask?
Of unhealed anger?
Of sadness and isolation?
Of being left on the hanger?

The impact comes with a cost
Lives can be lost
The impact is the Devil
Taking over the plot

The impact, you ask?
Of containing yourself?
Of not letting it out?
Of gathering dust on the shelf?

The impact is wildfire
The impact is a rupture
The impact is your mental health
Unfixable puncture

Impact is the aftermath
Of suffering on mute
And all it takes
Is a pin to a balloon

For someone to pop
For someone to rage
For services to say
“He just didn’t engage!”

“We don’t know why”
“We did all we could”
“But it’s just not professional”
“To give the clients a hug”

Absolutely brilliant write...you have captured the slow simmering rot of depression and also a magnificent rage against the broken system x
