The Jester

The jester sitting on the swing
Asleep and dreaming of Christmas
In the olden days when he was in his prime,Ā
He would rhyme and mime out his words
He is the jester
The jester setting on
The swing dreaming
Of the king drinking
And the queen can be mean
She will create quite a scene
As the jester screams with
Laughter after he wakes up
The jester sitting on the swing
The jester sitting on the swing
Getting ready to sing for the
King and when the bell ring
He is the jester sometimes
He can pester you then
He will go ha ha I got you
he is the jester

What an interesting take on a role that at one level hasn't changed that much in hundreds of years, but on the other hand, one that has changed almost beyond recognition .. Of course, I think there was far more involved than making the king or lord laugh .. and I also think their position was a very vulnerable one .. I need to learn more about the Jester .. but enjoyed the way you presented him here ...
Neville :)
Thank you NevilleĀ
The reason I wrote this
That I am on another poetry siteĀ
And for other people, Road
About the jester, so I thought Iād write
About it, so I wrote it here first
And then on the other siteĀ
Such an interesting subject
And it was well received in the other siteĀ
I hope youāre having a good day
