the last day of spring

at dusk
the day announces 
it’s last glimmer of light
then darkness falls
for every beginning
has an end
 
except time
in its own perfection
always happening
always moving forward
turning
day into night
night into day
the end becomes
a new beginning
with a new light
a new opportunity
the sun will rise again
in a new day
 
the evergreen spring
perhaps the most beautiful
ends with the longest day
the shortest night
some things are taken
some things are left behind
colours change hue
the light of our being
will have a new splendour
as life goes on
we grow up 
time changes us
every beginning has an end
the end precedes
a new beginning
there will always be time
for a new spring
