The Lover

The  Lover

'I'm scared, ' 'There's no need to be, we won't do anything
that you don't want to do, or uncertainty might bring.'
'I'm glad, you're a gentleman, may you continue to be.'
'You look like one of those old time film stars, a mystery.'
Ā
I used to be, but I departed many years ago, not an idol
anymore, however, I'm here for you when you're ready;
tell me more about yourself - you can't expect to arriveĀ
in a puff of smoke when you're no longer really alive.

It might as well be me as anyone else, isn't that true?
No, it's not - you should know, there are things I can do,
I can ask you to leave, say that I hardly know you too,
return when you're alive, not just come out of the blue.

Very well, you had your chance - look what you've missed,
just to be in heaven with a screen lover you really kissed.
