The March Rains

The March Rains

The March rains
Drumming on the Windowpane
Like a requiem
For my pain

The March seas
Rushing up the beach
To cover hope
With a million salted tears

The East wind
Howling around the empty town
Like a hungry ghost
Seeking vengeance

The pale Moon rising
Fighting her way through clouds
Draped over the Eastern sky
Like shrouds

Me, cocooned in black
Waiting
For the black dog
To make his way home.
