THE MAZE

THE MAZE

Tripping, stumbling blindly
Lost in the maze of the past
I couldn't begin to find my way out
Till I stopped struggling at last
I ran from the painful memories
I ran away and tried to hide
But like shadows that follow you
The past won't be denied
I ran from pain and sorrow
But they were there at every turn
They became my teachers, my companions
As I slowly came to learn
Pain taught me how to feel again
Sorrow taught me; You can't leave unfinished work behind
That the maze is a journey
Of the broken heart and wounded mind
Pain taught me to express my feelings
She showed me that I'm very much alive
Sorrow whispered in my ear; It's time my dear
To be happy and to thrive
