The Merging

Toward a cave of darkness
I stared into the eye of an evil lion
Whose mane adorned the entrance
Where Cain and Esau stood
At the commissure of either side
Bearing gifts of the everlasting
Professing I could have the world
And all its alembicated gold
If I would only step inside
And there I met the father of darkness
Possessing the covenant for my soul
He said, seal it with your name in blood
As he peered into my heart
Caressing the deepest recesses
Where the scalding hides beneath the scars
And then his tone began to darken
As he spoke of how we live
In illusory spun delusions
Pursuing the immortal prize
While cursing the accuser
And adversary of the light
But such hypocrites and heretics you are
Entangled in your falsehoods
All the while you dance inside the dark
For I am you reflected
In the truth of my rebellion
The one who gave you sight
When you wandered without a spark
And I find it to be repugnant
That you would bow to your fellow man
And raise him as a king
While you live in fear of judgement
But what god rewards the penitent
Proportionate to the meek and the virtuous
When the prodigal son is never shunned
Despite the theft of your inheritance
So why not yield to me, my child
And let me liberate your tribulations
Where you will not be judged
Nor ever stand a trial
Unlike the one who lets you suffer
Just so you can beg
For the mere solace of your salvation
