The Moon and I

You are the moon, I, the Sun, meeting briefly, as my radiance fades to night
Spreading your velvet eventide, I slip into oblivion, far under your sight
I am benumbed in the inky-ness as I watch your dazzling bliss
But, you are unaware that Iβm there, alone in the shadowy mist
You search the sky for shiny spheres, expanding like silvery dust
Flashing and decaying bits of tin, eventually turning to rust
My ethereal ghost melts like snow, my rays bring the morning glow
The birds sing and the butterflies dance, beneath my fiery show
