The Mortal Blow of Love

In shadows deep, my heart lies slain,
By love’s cruel hand, a mortal blow,
A wound that festers, endless pain,
In silent tears, my sorrow flows.
The night is long, the stars disdain,
To light the path where I must go,
For in this dark, I must remain,
A soul adrift, no peace to know.
Her smile, a dagger to my chest,
A beauty fierce, a weapon bright,
With every glance, my heart oppressed,
Her eyes, the stars that steal the night.
Her voice, a siren’s sweet request,
That lured me to this woeful plight,
In her embrace, I found no rest,
But endless dreams of lost delight.
Now left to mourn in empty space,
A ghost of love, a shadow’s trace,
No solace found in time’s embrace,
For death has claimed my heart’s own place.
In silent tomb, I find my grace,
A final end to love’s cruel chase,
Yet still I see her haunting face,
In dreams that time cannot erase.
