Poem -

The Needle.

The needle has taken a
father away,
an uncle, a brother,
a friend.

The lost years you
cannot mend,
For you care for no one,
the street is your friend.

You wander around,
your head in the sky,
worried about nothing,
but to score your next high.

The years go by,
your parents grow old,
your daughter marries
without a story being told.

The damage was done,
you just couldn't see,
You were constantly thinking.
ME, ME, ME.

As you wander around,
waiting for your life to end,
don't worry about us,

The needles your friend.
