THE OCCURRENCE
Season 1 Episode 3 – The Farm

Up the winding overgrown road,
Deeper into the trees.
Running from the stark unknown,
From something that's unseen.
No time to look back now,
All of us alive somehow.
Not sure of how that happened
Or exactly what it means.

A burned out house protrudes from the trees
That reach for a darkening sky.
And switch grass swallows farm implements
Over the rust stained pools they've cried.
It's odd that the oldest thing in sight,
A windowless barn that's losing the fight,
Looks better than anything else here
As the stars slowly begin to appear.

A barely discernible path
Leading to the door,
A safe place to rest
Becoming so much more.
From between the cracks in the wood
A flickering light
Coming from inside
