The Occurrence S01E04 - Darkness

THE OCCURRANCE
Season 1 Episode 4
Darkness

The door in a voice of deep resentful groans
opens with a reluctance matched only by its tone.
Inside a single outline flashes on a nearby wall
a shadowy figure cast by candlelight made tall.
Legs getting thinner and bending at the floor,
the narrowing lines stretch over dirt and strewn straw
to a little girl standing alone and withdrawn.

As the night continues to settle in
like pieces of fluffy black cotton
raining down a cozy illusion of seclusion
on an otherwise indiscernible world,
there is no attempt to talk to the girl,
nor does she let out a single peep.
She only wants to be held close
and after a while we somehow fall asleep.
