THE 'ONE-OFF'

At that very split second…

Time parted way

Permitting an in-between place to stay.

In the blink of an eye...

A secluded and stagnant stillness

Pin-pointed the moment of a lonely existence.

Destiny denied any explanation

For the ‘One-Off’ had reached its destination.

Had a hiccup in fates flow abruptly shown

What the world was about to unfurl, become known?

Whatever it was that ventured from that vast void

Remained in reality, lost, paranoid.

Whatever escaped from natures’ nook

  Shook the past

        Rattled our present

              Rolling into an unbalanced brook.

         A virtuous venue for an ominous future…

Its simple structure could barely survive

Left alone and alive, having nowhere to hide.

The ‘One-Off’ then sought out a place in that space

Amid a million memories

As an invalid race.

On the eve of an era, the ‘One-Off’ drew nearer

Frozen in time, a means became clearer.

Slipping sub-consciously, back into the stream

An instance was recognized through recurring dream.

And so it seems, without any doubt

The ‘One-Off’ reclaimed its place back in the dark.

Where a fleeting moment had now made its mark.
