The Only One That Remains

Empty feelings,
A pit of hate,
Fallen walls,
Bricks and mortar,
Release once more,
The stillness,
That touches the void,

Shakes the poet,
The beast that resides,
In the world that’s nearby,
Yet the calmness lingers on,
Through the wind and snow,
That hides below and underneath,

Although he knows deep down,
That they have all departed,
He is calm as he knows,
He is the only one that remains.
Yet he is strong,
Strong enough to take the pain,
The hurt inflicted again and again,
