The Original Streakers

The Original Streakers

Continuing on about the daring capers, that my friend Roger and I conjured up;

Is the one about the USA’s first “streakers”, wearing only jockey cups!

The year was nineteen sixty one, the month was January, cold;

With two feet of fresh snow upon the ground, this plan was very bold!

On a Saturday night, or Sunday morning, at the stroke of one a.m.;

We hatched a plan to strip down to our undies, and thought it just a gem!

We decided that one by one we’d jump out, of my bedroom window now ajar;

Clad only in our underwear, a round trip to the stop sign down so far!

We knew that if a car drove by, and saw us we were dead;

But however hard we tried to fight it, this idea was in our heads!

I, being the major instigator, was the first one to take flight;

I raced barefoot and touched the stop sign, then made it back all right!

I climbed back in the window, and out then Roger flew;

I was watching as he raced down, but some headlights come in view!

So he sped so very quickly, that they never saw him run;

We did it several more nights, our careers as streakers had begun!

Hi Sweet Rose,

When one writes about these episodes of their youth that now seem so whimsical, their reward is when the reader says it brought laughter to their hearts.  You have rewarded me with the greatest gift I could ask for.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

Hi Dear G,

Gotta ask you a serious question G.  Would you have watched us streaking, or covered your eyes in embarrassment?

Love you,

Oh my darling, my special Larry,

I`d have been there cheering my big brave hero on but in 1961 I was only three! so you would have certainly been my big hero and I would have followed you to the ends of the earth, but we were living in my dads army camp in Malaya at the time and I was just learning to swim, you could have been my hero coach then if only we`d met then. Anyway you are my knight in shining armour and always will be my darling.

I love you all so very much my darlings and I`ve missed you over the weekend as my Harry, my laptop, decided to throw a hissy fit and got a big poorly in his little tummy and couldn`t get hold of the internet for me. I don`t like to see my poor baby Harry so poorly, but Geoff took him to the laptop doctor and he made him feel happy and so much better! So I`m chuffed to bits that he`s on the road to recovery! and that I am back with you all again.

I love you deeply and always will my darling.

Love G xx

Hi Dear G,

This brought to mind, an old Alfred Hitchcock movie, called "The Trouble With Harry".  It sounds like your real life drama has superseded his suspense.  We wondered why we hadn't heard from you.  We have heard that those "laptop doctors" charge ghastly fees.  Did poor little Harry have to spend the night in the clinic or was it an outpatient surgery?  Anyway, we love you to pieces, we missed you to tears and we are so glad to have you back.  By the way, I would have been happy as a young man of 14 to give you swimming lessons, but being as naughty as I was, I probably would have concentrated on the "breast stroke", ha, ha!

Love from us all,

L & L & C
