The Player and Hecuba

The Player and Hecuba

(for BowKitty)

And what, pray tell, is he to Hecuba?

This anal-gazing actor on the stage

Such grief. Such passion. Huge! Spectacular!!

Though she is just a name upon a page.

And what, if anything, can be perceived

by those for whom the world is viewed (unseen)

For nought but phantom-shadows are conceived

of dancing pixels on a flick’ring screen.

For what we seek in this unseeing world

And cherish close. As cherish it we ought

Is gossamer; like gentle wings unfurled:

as fleeting and ephemeral as thought.

And what has all our thinking (searching) shown?

That we can’t know. And we cannot be known.

Thank you. 'Masterpiece' is pushing it a little, perhaps...though I do appreciate your enthusiasm.

Actually Lisa; truth be told: I'm a narcissistic, pedantic, intellectual snob! I just try to hideΒ it as best I can for as long as I can. Because...if you're humble, quiet and unassuming ... THEY NEVER SEE YOU COMING!!!!! [Okay, that was a little more psychopathic than I intended...but you know what I mean!]

Thanks Mick.
That means a lot coming from a man who's quite the word-weaver himself.
