The Question

The Question

And so I'm here, but sadly find,
The reason why, I'm unaware,
A pressing question, on my mind,
Who's lack of answer I cannot bear.

Is it, perhaps, for family?
Or maybe a dream I've yet to fullfill.
I cannot know, and so,
I'm forced to wonder absently.

Could it be, that I am here,
For no set purpose,
It remains unclear.
For what reasons did God create us?

I'm stuck in the dark,
The question ever present,
Am I here to leave a mark?
For what purpose am I meant?

I still am young, I've yet to see,
I sometimes fear I'll never know,
I'm left to wonder aimlessly,
And question always which way I'll go,

In this vast labyrinth we've deemed as life,
The question, unrelenting,
I'll always struggle in the strife,
Until the answer stops its hiding

The meaning of life I promise to find,
My search will never cease,
I'll find it and no longer be blind,
A feeling I've craved will occur, peace.

Hi Kathryn,

Welcome to Cosmo, and thank you for your kind vote on my birthday poem.  I am making copies of a couple of your poems, and will post my comments tomorrow, for I do my writing in the middle of the night.  You will also see that most of my comments are done in poetic form.

Again, a most happy welcome to Cosmo.  I am sure you will find, as we all have, pure joy in writing to and conversing with poets from all over the world.

Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

Hi Kathryn,

As promised, here is my comment on this self-searching poem.

What is the secret of this life we live?
What purpose did the Lord me give?
The answer is not hard to see
For The Ten Commandments before you be

.
Follow them, and question not
Give them all the love you've got
And when your time on Earth is done
Your time in Heaven will be begun

Hugs, Peace, and Love,
Larry xxx

Life eternal question? I enjoyed reading and thinking. Perhaps it is a choice for us to make to evolve and adapt as we become the sum of all our experiences. Inspiring first write. A warm welcome to Cosmo.
