The Raven

The Raven

For I am death waiting upon love's defeat
Thy shadow lays still upon the dark street
Struck by the gods merciless still
A mere figure chimes by earths timely will
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ay my humble friend
Had ye been aware of this unknown fiend
Know that tonight a blood red hue shall spill
Taken by a dagger that hearts do kill
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mercy, where art thou
Can ye not predict which death allow
For the raven's wings which fly this night
By decree shall have ye heart by midnight
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flee now or face the shadow of death
The same bird that flies seek mortals less
From above,  ye have been chosen
To lay in death's coffin a life forsaken
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Will ye have not heard this plea in cautions wind
Who holds its hand from a grave dear friend
Thy heart has been given a second chance
To be upon this earths gentle dance
