The Raven and The Girl.

The Raven and The Girl.

A girl with sad story sat in a trance,
Staring into a darkened abyss,
Pleading with heart to be cold as ice,
To numb not to reminisce.

Then by chance a raven flew down,
She had seen this creature before,
It’s broken black feathers with a silvery tip,
And on its beak a hairline flaw.

“What be your worry, my sweet girl?”
The raven squawked in her ear,
“Come with me to end your woes,
Your sadness and your fear.”

The girl looked up with tears of blue,
And eyes of emerald green,
The raven asking once again,
His squawk was beckoning.

The girl had wiped her eyes of salt,
And felt a shiver down her spine,
For she had seen this bird before,
This was not the only time.

“I’ve seen you, throughout my life.
But I was much stronger before.”
“And now I fear I’ll let you in,
As the darkness I cannot ignore.”

The raven looked and lifted a wing,
“Come take a feather of black.”
“Be sure this is what you want to do,
As there’ll be no turning back.”

The girl plucked her chosen plume,
Then laid upon on the floor.
For the raven of death she’d chosen,
And her worries were no more.

This ended the same as that wonderful Gothic poem, "The Raven", by none other than Edgar Allan Poe, Tracy.
The narrator in his poem succumbed to the spirit of death as well, allowing the gaunt and ghastly raven from the night's plutonium shore to whisk him away with his beloved Lenore.
Excellent rhyming all throughout.
This one rocks!
