The Royal Family Tree!

Royal tea sipped with delicacy,
Tiers of afternoon cakes,
Fine porcelain, tea poured when strained
By maids who stand and wait!

Discussions held in private
To protect their privacy,
The media get greedier
For the royal family!

Prim and proper outfits,
State affairs to attend,
People falling over themselves
Terrified to offend!

A country retreat to Sandringham,
`Plus fours`, caps and tweed,
Shot partridge for Retrievers                    
To feed the aristocracy!

Flamboyant, costly weddings,
Plush carriages, horse drawn,
Guest lists of notoriety;
A sobriety above the `norm`!

The language of the upper class
Where grown-ups call mum `mummy`,
It sets the classes well apart,
Sounds extraordinary!

Cutting ribbons with sharp scissors,
Plaques to mark occasions,
`Queen Elizabeth opened this library
Accompanied by pages`!

Here comes the Christmas Day parade,
The royals off to church,
Admirers snapping photographs
To find how much they`re worth!

The Queen`s Speech on the tv
As she talks with plum in mouth,
Silence from those families
Who are royalists inside out!

Bodyguard security night and day,
The queen must be kept out of reach,
Whether wearing a crown, a diamond gown
Or a scarf round her head on the beach!

'Smile please, say cheese'
For the family photo file,
All the royals pictured together
But grandma never smiles!
