The Silent Guardian.

A Knight’s Love Bound by Duty, Lost in Fate.

The Silent Guardian.

There once was a knight, steadfast in his duty,
A protector of the realm, a man of unspoken beauty.
His armor gleamed in the sunlight, cold and bright,
But beneath it, his heart, hidden out of sight,
Beat with a longing he dared not reveal,
For the princess who made his soul feel
A love that was tender, pure, and true,
Yet bound by a fate he could not undo.
He had sworn an oath, a vow of protection,
A life of service, not of affection.
His life was the sword, his love was the shield,
Yet in his heart, a different truth was sealed.

The princess, the light of the kingdom’s crown,
Her beauty surpassed, none could bring her down.
With golden hair that shone like the sun,
Her laughter like music, a gift for everyone.
But though she was adored, loved by all who could see,
She was untouchable, a vision of royalty.
Her heart belonged to the throne, to the kingdom she must lead,
And the knight was but a servant, fulfilling his creed.
Yet every glance she cast his way, a spark ignited,
A warmth that left him restless, uninvited.
He was the shadow in her life, a silent part,
A man who guarded the kingdom, yet longed for her heart.

Their paths first crossed on a summer’s day,
When the princess, lost in thought, wandered away.
She walked with a book, her mind far from the world,
When her foot caught a stone, her world unfurled.
She tumbled to the ground, her book falling wide,
And in that moment, the knight stood by her side.
With a heart that raced, he rushed to her aid,
His hands strong but gentle, his voice full of shade.
“Majesty, are you hurt?” he asked with concern,
His eyes filled with care, his heart began to burn.
She looked up at him, her eyes a soft hue,
And in that gaze, their souls seemed to pursue.

The princess, startled, grasped his outstretched hand,
Her fingers brushing his, a touch so grand.
In that brief moment, their hearts beat as one,
Two souls intertwined, a connection begun.
She stood with his help, and their eyes lingered still,
Her breath caught in her chest, a sense of quiet thrill.
The knight’s armor was cold, but his spirit was warm,
His heart ached with longing, unable to conform.
The princess smiled softly, her cheeks a slight red,
As she gathered her book, her thoughts left unsaid.
“Thank you, sir knight,” she said with grace,
But in her eyes, there was something he could trace.

The days that followed were filled with silent glances,
Each one igniting more forbidden romances.
The knight could not help but watch her from afar,
Admiring the princess like a distant star.
She, too, would often smile in his direction,
But both were trapped in an unspoken connection.
She would call him “Sir,” polite and reserved,
But in his heart, he wished to be more than deserved.
He longed to call her by name, to feel her touch,
But duty kept them both in chains, too much.

And yet, despite the barriers that kept them apart,
Their love blossomed quietly, deep in their hearts.
The knight would stand guard, his gaze always near,
While the princess, unaware, would shed a tear,
For she, too, felt the longing, the ache, the pull,
But she knew that her duty was the kingdom’s rule.
One day, she found herself thinking of him alone,
Wishing for a life where they could both be known.
But that was not their fate, not what they could choose,
For the kingdom had its own plans, and love was something to lose.

Then the news came, cold and sharp as a blade,
The king had chosen a prince, and plans were laid.
A marriage was arranged, a union decreed,
The princess was to marry, to fulfill a need.
The knight overheard the whispers in the halls,
The wedding plans, the royal calls.
His heart shattered in silence, his body frozen in place,
For he knew he could never take her place.
He was loyal, devoted, a knight without peer,
But he was not royal, he had no crown to wear.
The princess, so kind, so gentle, so true,
Was being given away to someone new.

The knight could not stand idly by,
So he sought her out, under the starlit sky.
He found her alone, her face filled with sorrow,
She knew of the wedding, the loss of tomorrow.
“I must tell you, my princess,” he said with a sigh,
“I overheard the king—this is no goodbye.”
Her eyes filled with tears, but she tried to stay strong,
For she had always known that love was a song
She could not sing, for her heart was not free,
Bound by the throne, unable to be.
“I love you, knight,” she whispered in pain,
“But I cannot change fate, I cannot break these chains.”

The knight took her hand, his heart breaking apart,
And he held her close, though they both felt the start
Of a love that could never come to fruition,
A love bound by duty, lost in submission.
The princess, her heart torn, buried her face,
Knowing her love would never find a place.
He gently kissed her forehead, soft and sweet,
But in his chest, the ache grew complete.
He tried to comfort her, to hold her tight,
But they both knew their love was not meant for the light.

The day of the wedding arrived, heavy and cold,
The knight stood in silence, his heart growing old.
He watched the princess walk down the aisle,
Her eyes bright with sorrow, her smile forced, though in style.
She was beautiful, radiant, a vision of grace,
But the knight could see the emptiness on her face.
As the prince took her hand, the knight felt the sting,
For he knew he could never be the one to bring
Her joy, her happiness, her heart’s true song,
For he was nothing, and love had done him wrong.

Underneath his helmet, the knight’s eyes filled with tears,
For though he had protected her through all these years,
He could never hold her, never be her king,
No matter the love his heart could bring.
He stood in silence, his sword by his side,
Watching the woman he loved become another’s bride.
And in that moment, the knight’s heart cracked,
For though he was loyal, his love was lacked.

Time passed, but the knight remained ever true,
Watching from the shadows, his heart in two.
He would serve her always, guard her from afar,
But the princess would never see him as her star.
She married the prince, and her life moved on,
But the knight stood still, though the years were long.
He never stopped loving her, never stopped waiting,
But he knew their love was forever fading.

So, he stood in his armor, cold and alone,
A knight with no princess, no heart to be shown.
His sword was sharp, his armor pristine,
But beneath it all, he was broken and unseen.
And though the princess lived on in a world of her own,
The knight would always wait, forever unknown.
