The Takeover

In my head, is where my demons are bred.
The thoughts of my past, just seem to last.
Even though I try, I can't push them away.
Minute after minute, day after day.

What's wrong with me, you may ask.
It seems I'm drowning in the bottom of my flask.
Slowly trying to ascend to the brim, but see the problem is, I don't know how to swim.
The harder I fight, the faster I sink.
Down to the bottom, I hit with a clink.

I give up. I'm tired of fighting. I let the demons take over, no matter how uninviting.
