The Things We Go Through

Whitney drowned in the bath, daughter followed suit,
such terrible events were a disaster and not very cute;
part of life you might say, would never happen to you,
don't be sure, whoever created had a strange shade of blue.

There were no fail safes - perhaps there should have been,
don't want to be robots - might have been damn sight better,
than so called freedom of choice, Whitney you tell her,
not to be a fool and thought to be together forever.

I decided long ago not to walk in anyone's shadow,
did it work, unfortunately no - dragged down below,
decent is not recent and certainly not heaven sent,
where do broken hearts go, where was good intent?

Should have been wonderful - why not have sublime,
instead of just so temporary and one  moment in time.
