The Trials Of The Poet

The Trials Of The Poet

The poet unearths
shattered lives from the abyss
of Time. In nocturnes,
he hears unsettling notions.
Sometimes, he perceives
fragments of Light, where others
only see darkness.
He spurns all the rituals
0f the stifling tribe.
and is most content when he
freely roams within
the fine kingdoms of the mind:
where sumptuous sounds
and vibrant colours collide.
As he dredges up
memory's debris, he can
often spot sweet pearls.
Just like an ancient prophet,
he patiently waits
for significant signs on
the wind. He still hopes
that they will provide him with
flashes of guidance.
As he gleans wisdom from his
dusty books, he wonders
about the future of the world.
O he stands alone,
like a rusted weathervane,
amidst the chaos
of a deeply troubled age!
