The twinkle in his eye

The twinkle in his eye

How I miss that twinkle
I wish I could hear him say
Did you hear the one about?
Or just; what have you been up to today?

How I miss that twinkle
It prepared me for the joke
Maybe a slight ribbing
Poking fun at folk

How I miss that twinkle
With his sneaky glance to the side
Always ready to tell a tale
With nothing at all to hide

How I miss that twinkle
But time has slipped away
It’s now a special memory
Of my dad from yesterday
