The Vegetarian

The Vegetarian

Go into an abattoir  - you won't eat meat again,
the way they kill the animals in so much pain;
however, respect people's wishes, that's yours and mine,
it's just your business the way you choose to dine.

Take away meat, chicken, all that seafood and fish,
to be true to your cause for an unadulterated dish,
were  we really intended to be nice herbivores,
and conveniently sail along with what taste ignores.

Pasta, noodles, nut cutlets, wonderful pulse salads,
fussy, prissy, modern, healthy, overtaken by fads,
wonderful desserts with no blood along the way,
although, somewhere, I'm sure I saw a pork souffle.'

Come on chaps, go against meat and what's left,
don't dumb yourself down, constrain and be so bereft.

Hey Terry I don't think anybody is arguing on your right to eat what you want...certainly the huge supermarket chains won't argue with your purchase of that healthy looking plastic wrapped piece of beef. I think it is us...the veggies and vegans who get the raw deal and lack of choice. We have seen in the slaughterhouses and do not want to eat the dead body of an animal who suffered at our hands in life and death. As you say...don't argue with our choice...regards...
