the wall

the wall

“It seems when I let the wall down, I get let down.”

The wall was invisible but sturdy,
and was finished within a day.
It took minimal time to build
and had an incredible will to stay.
As her emotions were freed, the wall dissolved
until her heart was exposed at last.
But the wall quickly appeared again…
if only trust could be built so fast.
She molds the wall around her
with a firm but weary hold;
inside, she’s still the same,
but the fortress is rigid and cold.
All walls can be conquered,
but her efforts have ceased – no more!
It will take a special hand
to complete the tedious chore.
The wall must be chipped away
to start with a brand new slate;
the interim is hard to endure,
but the results will be worth the wait.
Even when the wall is tossed aside,
it won’t be hard to find –
all it takes is an ounce of hurt
and a simple command of the mind.
