The Waning Tides

The memory has dulled
But the sensation remains
Through every yearning breath that burns
To uncoil the clandestine layers of pain
I flounder in the shadow of your absence
Haunted by the sough of the surrounding seas
This isle, my exile and wilderness to wander
In pursuit of a once abiding dream
Lost and lamenting, hence never to evade
This temperate yet wuthering shore
I caress the edges, at the invisible boundary
As the waves retreat and my heart submerges
Out from the unbounded ebb of yours
I live in lack of an illumined sense
Though offer hymns and incantations
Defying the past, but only to reap my debt
In a lacuna that forms my isolation
And I will shun the majestic moon
For the light of destiny it delays
Vanquishing stars in every blink of an eye
Obscured from the mystery I gaze
That is if you shall not return to me
Before my demise is due to rain
Let then the firmament fall
And this island sink below its mist
To uplift your shadowed veil

Thank you ever so much, Dean, for your kind and incentivising words.
I am here, at page 6, The Waning Tides. Will keep reading the next pages. You have an impressive collection, Ian. I am wondering if you ever published a book? We see lots of noir writings out there, however, whatβs missing is romance noir, like yours. Greetings, BΒ
Thank you so much Bernadete for taking the time to read through my poems. I have never tried to publish anything before, you are the first person to ask that question, so I thank you again Bernadete.Β
