The Woman With Snakes In Her Hair

The Woman With Snakes In Her Hair

The Gorgon sisters were Sthenno, Euryale, and Medusa,
Medusa was so beautiful, that the men tried to seduce her,
But being a beautiful priestess to the virgin Goddess of War,
Medusa had to stay pure like on the day that she was born.

Medusa’s life to Athena meant she could not marry at all,
To put all her energies into her Goddess, without fault,
Thus removing her attention for a husband and child,
And this was the way it worked for quite a long while.

Since she had taken this vow to serve the Goddess Of War,
She was considered off limits to men, like never before,
One that did not respect this rule, in fact he was ignorantly sly,
Medusa could not escape the longing gaze, from Poseidon’s eye.
Β
Poseidon, the god of the sea, rapes Medusa out of lust,
Now that she was raped, Medusa has Β lost Athena's trust,
Athena cursed Medusa, finding out about the rape,
And Medusa transformed into a monster, so cruel is her fate.

The transformation of Medusa was extremely very painful,
Her flesh became cracked and withered where once she was beautiful,
Where once she had soft and silky hair, it was always flawless,
Now turned into venomous snakes and evil and lawless.

She was banished to a distant island, no contact and all alone,
One gaze on a man would immediately turn them to stone,
Where men wanted to marry her, and melt at her sigh,
Men were now on the hunt for her, they wanted her to die.
