The Woodland Mile

The Woodland Mile

Laburnum is a siren, deadly harsh yet fair,

Willow is a granny, with drooping ashen hair.

Birch is but a child,

Pine wild and unfanned,

The Oak a woodland giant, to dominate the Land.

The tender little saplings, of the Mangrove tree,

walk along the river, Reaching for the Sea.

The Dogwoods' silver blossoms,

Waving In the Breeze,

The Mighty redwood tall,

standing fast at ease,

Slim Aspens tittering, waving to the cherry,

The Holly low and humble, gleaming red with berry,

Loving Elm I come to see,

soft tan bark upon the tree,

In the branches larks do sing,

Upon a growing Iron-wood ring.

All steadfast they stand alone,

the Tall Sequoia on his throne.

Among the budding orchards,

The fruiting Flowers Smile,

Upon the tallow moss, bowing;scraping low.

I walk upon the Woodland Mile,

And grin at the friends I know.

Wow Dmitri!!...........this is VERY creative.........it has the integrity of a strong sense of rhythm and timing in it's delivery........and at the same time it's VERY informative where the subject matter (trees) is concerned........but what I REALLY find a stand out in this piece is the creative phrasing and imagery that creates a very smooth continuity........which of course makes it a VERY compelling read!!........I don't think I've read you before (my loss).........gonna have to check out more of your stuff.........well done my friend.........ALL STARS............T xo

Awesome, I favorite this one. You brought so much life and character to the trees I was amazed how each one had its own attribute and you nailed it perfectly. Original and enjoyable read with an earthy flow. My respect goes to you sir, well done.

I'm rather flattered, the praise of 4 former ambassadors is Not taken In an aloof manner.

Thank you all.
